Safety First
A popular place for wallpaper is as a backsplash behind the stove or sink. While you might think putting paper near an open flame is a terrible idea, most non-woven wallpaper on the market undergoes fire testing. To be extra safe, you can pair your decor with an electric stove rather than a gas stove. However, it should perform fine unless you have a wonky stove top that doesn’t contain the flame properly. The same goes for water as well. Most wallpaper is fine with small splashes of water as long as you wipe it down with a soft cloth. Alternatively, if water is left soaking into the paper frequently over time, you may find the paste weakened and the paper lifting. That said, sometimes wallpaper can be the perfect material for an easy and quick wipe down. Here are some examples of it working beautifully.
